Two members of the school staff were attacked at gunpoint as they left the school grounds. There is a hill that runs in front of the school. At about 6:00 p.m., when it was already dark, Mr. H. had just come out of the yard when a motorcycle going down the hill turned around and stopped right in front of him on the sidewalk. The passenger got off and put a gun to his ear. Mr. H. had just received his salary. He had no choice but to hand it over. After that, the motorcycle driver told his sidekick to execute him, but he refused to do so. They left in a hurry. Mr. H’s wife died last year. If he had died, his three little girls would have been orphans. We reimbursed his salary.
A couple of days before, Miss T. who works at the school snack shop came out of the school yard with the profit from the sales. This is a good amount for her. A motorcycle that was going down the hill made a U-turn. The passenger got off and pointed a gun at her. She had to give them the money and her phone. We thank the Lord who preserved their lives.
Most schools opened in November instead of September because of gang threats.
A notorious gang leader laid down his weapons and announced three days of revival. He grew up in a Christian family. We hope his conversion will be lasting. The situation in Haiti remains precarious. Let’s pray that a spirit of repentance will seize the people!
For some time, we have been helping unemployed mothers with food supplies.
The last of the twenty prefabricated houses for earthquake victims were finally erected. When the driver returned to Port-au-Prince, after delivering the last five, a gang kidnapped his truck. It was the second time it happened. He had to pay a ransom to get it back.
A new car, a new house, nice clothes can give us satisfaction for a while, but they do not fill the emptiness that is in the heart of man. How much we rejoice that Jesus came to fill this void. Without him, we would all be wanderers.
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Year 2023 filled with blessings and deliverance and healing.
