G. in prison and baptisms of the Holy Spirit

Categories: Uncategorized @en

G, an ex-student sponsored by Child Care Plus, was thrown in jail four and a half years ago. He never had a trial. A gang broke into the building containing many of the prisoners’ files, including his own, and set it on fire.  The judge on his case died.  We have to start from scratch with his file. Please pray that we can find the funds to give him a fair trial and get him out of this hellish place.  In Haiti, although detention facilities provide some food, families have to provide meals for their prisoners.  His mother doesn’t have the financial means to do so. What’s more, the penitentiary area is highly volatile and dangerous.

One of the directors of The Fortress school sponsored by Child Care Plus, who is also a preacher, claimed to be baptized in the Holy Spirit. He wondered why Michel insisted so much on the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the speaking in tongues.   But during the Christmas vacations, he and two of his friends took three days of prayer and received this wonderful blessing. One of our adult Sunday school teachers was also baptized. Sid Roth of the It’s Supernatural network argues that 100% of Christians should be baptized in the Holy Spirit.

After a former Haitian government official served his seven-year sentence for drug trafficking in the USA, he was repatriated to Haiti.  He wasted no time in inciting crowds to demonstrate, demanding the Prime Minister’s departure. They are pressing state offices and schools to close. Let’s hope we don’t enter another period of unrest that will paralyze the country. Not to mention the fact that in some places, gangs are blocking the national highway, forcing people to travel on yachts to get from one town to another.  Yesterday was a difficult day in many parts of the country.  But we want to believe that good things will happen in Haiti.

Just before Christmas, one of our congregation’s pastors was robbed of a large sum of money by two individuals on motorcycles. He was on his way to deliver it to a family member’s home.

What joy and peace it is to belong to Jesus. How can we live without Jesus in a country in constant turmoil? Families fleeing gang warfare join our assembly, as do many young people. The Lord allows us to be here to direct people to Him and to encourage those who have lost everything and are broken-hearted. The Kenyan contingent, including military and police from other countries, is scheduled to arrive here in February 2024.

Thank you for your prayers. Let us continue to pray for peace in HAITI, ISRAEL and UKRAINE and in the rest of the world.
