Trials keep us humble.

We hope you are doing well and feel God’s presence in your lives.

One evening, while Michel was praying, he felt to call the Assemblies of God superintendent in Haiti to ask him how it was going in the area where their Bible school is located. He said that it was closed due to the gang activities. Michel offered him our facilities to continue their classes.  May 15th was their first day in our centre. They have 55 students.  The attached photo shows the first student meeting in our chapel. Several had not been able to attend.   Having a Bible school in our building is a dream of 25 years.

Lately, in Haiti, there have been many gang wars to control more territory.  They are said to control 50% of Port-au-Prince, the capital.  It is estimated that there are more than 72 gangs in the country. Because of this, shops, schools and some Bible institutes have had to close their doors as their neighborhoods have become too dangerous. On May 3, 2022, UNICEF-Haiti shared a survey in which 500,000 children were identified as having lost access to education in gang-controlled areas of the capital. They can no longer go to school. 1700 schools have closed in these areas, according to UNICEF. « The entire metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince, 772 schools are closed in Croix-des-Bouquets, 446 schools in Tabarre, 274 in Cité Soleil, and another 200 in Martissant, Fontamara, Centre-Ville and Bas-Delmas, according to the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP), » wrote the United Nations Children’s Fund.

On March 25, 2022, in Quebec, I had surgery to remove two malignant nodules.  The surgeon told me I would have a month of radiation therapy. But the pathologist’s report took 6 weeks to come back and I was able to return to Haiti to see Michel and the children after 3 1/2 months of absence. It was like a dream to be there for two weeks.

I returned to Quebec on May 11 and saw the surgeon again on May 12. He told me that the pathologist requested that a sample of the sample taken during the operation be sent to California by FedEx for analysis to see if I should have chemo before radiation therapy. Only 10% of women who have this problem, must do both chemo and radiotherapy. Being separated from Michael and the others, I would like to ask you to pray that God will do a miracle so that I do not need chemo. The separation from Michel and my life in Haiti is long.  Pray that I will be spared from all this.  I know that God is in control of the situation.

Pray also for peace in Haiti. Life is getting hard and many people have left the country. Pray that the kidnappings will stop completely.  Thank you.
