When we were in East Africa, there were sometimes sorcerers who infiltrated the church posing as Christians. One night, a witch came to our house. She worked for someone high up in the government and lived not far from home. She said she had lost her house key and asked to sleep with us. Not knowing anything, we gave her our daughter’s room. In the morning we woke up and everything was business as usual. Nothing had changed. Sometime later, we learned that she was in witchcraft and that she had come to try to cause us spiritual harm. But her powers did not work that night. 😊 She regularly attended local church services. ‘’Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.’’ Matthew 7, 15
Mercidieu (left) is 14 years old. It is the first year he goes to school as well as his 8-year-old sister and 10-year-old brother. Imagine yourself going through your whole life without knowing how to read or write. This year, we started two special classes to help older children who have never had the privilege of going to school. They will not have to suffer from this humiliation of being illiterate.
Recently, we took an online course with Phil and Judy Bowler, PAOC Global Workers, which is called DMM (Disciples Making Movement). We formed a first group with a few people. This is only a small part of the people who visit our church on Sundays. After this course, the disciples will begin a group of disciples who will in turn begin a group of disciples. We hope that this movement will snowball. Matthew 28, 19-20 says: ‘’Go make all the nations disciples, baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to observe all that I have prescribed to you. Behold, I am with you every day until the end of the world. ‘’
We have learned that there are very few covid-19 tests available in Haiti. Those who remain are reserved for those over 60s with symptoms. To board a plane, we must present a negative result in the COVID-test 19, which has to be done within three days before the flight departs. We had planned to travel to Canada for a few weeks, but there were reports of covid-19s on flights from Cancum, France and Port-au-Prince to Montreal. There is no lockdown in Haiti.
Please pray for the house cells we want to start.
Thank you for standing with us in prayer.
